”This is the first officially licensed screen-print for Night of the Living Dead, as the public domain expired, and the IP is now owned by Image Ten Productions. As a rabid zombie fan, it was not only an honor to work on the property, but also a challenge. There had been so many amazing designs in the past for this movie, I needed to make an iconic image that not only paid homage to the movie, but to really differentiate it from everything else. I shifted focus to the zombie’s hands as opposed to their faces; reminiscent of the scene in the movie where the undead finally break into the house. I imagined that hanging the poster on a wall would feel like it was a tromp ‘oeil boarded-up “window” that the zombies were breaking through, so the task was to make a 2-dimensional image feel like it was 3D. We achieved this by layering multiple opaque shade layers to build up the depth of the background, and used highlight ink layers and clear gloss overlays to pull the foreground forward visually. ” - Anthony Petrie
