“As many people know, the Phish Junta album art is not new. I conceived of the original scene back in the 1980s. Having met Page and the other members of Phish at Goddard College, I often provided them with interesting characters and comic strips they used in their newsletters, show flyers, and t-shirts. They decided to use one such image on their own release of their album Junta, on cassette. However, after signing with Elektra, the art had to be reimagined to fit the new CD dimensions. This poster takes art from the original illustration boards which combined to create the CD longbox. For those that aren’t old enough to remember the longbox, it was a ridiculous waste of material added onto cd cases, so they would fit in preexisting record store bins. But without them, this poster wouldn’t exist. I’m grateful to Phish and Julia Mordaunt for giving new life to my old art. ” - Jim Pollock
