“The story behind the print: The serigraph “Dormer” by Edward Rice (based on Rice’s oil painting of the same title), depicts the window of Berry Fleming's (former) studio on Eighth Street in historic downtown Augusta. Rice’s studio was directly across the street from Fleming’s in the 1980s. ⠀⁣

Berry Fleming (1899–1989) was a writer and painter who was born and raised in Augusta, GA. After serving in World War I, Fleming graduated form Harvard University and moved to New York City to begin his writing career. He worked for The New Yorker and Punch magazines and authored several books. His most noted novel, Colonel Effingham’s Raid, was made into a film by Twentieth Century Fox. ” - The Morris Museum Of Art
